The Pachamama Raymi that in Spanish means “Feast of the Mother Earth”, is celebrated every first week of the month of August. The people of Cusco pay homage to Mother Earth as thanks to the blessings given to their crops, which are used to support their families throughout the year and also to take care of all misfortune. The tradition of venerating the Pachamama dates back to pre-Hispanic times, the Inca people considered it the protective deity of the Inca Empire, dedicated to feeding and preserving the well-being of man.
This celebration is an act of reciprocity and praise to nature, according to the Andean cultures, to continue maintaining alliances with man. In this festival, bullfighting and textile exhibition is also practiced so that national and international tourists can enjoy and learn more about the Inca Culture. In addition, to continue with the veneration, the people sing to the earth as thanks and then the dancers dance music typical of the people of Cusco.
